Mittens sewn from Felted Sweaters

$25.00

This ergonomic mitten is designed to be made from felted knit fabric, having the side benefit of saving accidentally-shrunk sweaters from the landfill. Wool (naturally water-resistant) is warm even when soaking wet. Felted wool is wind-resistant, making it ideal for mittens.

The single seam is offset from where the hand grasps a shovel handle, the thumb is angled correctly, and the cuff is snug enough to keep wind/snow out.

Most men’s hands are square; most women’s are rectangular. This is why many women cannot find gloves/mittens that fit, and why two different
pattern shapes are given: seven each plus the baby.

The full enchilada of fifteen patterns for $25 is overkill; it kicks a few more dollars into the kitty. Includes sixteen illustrated pages of instructions.

Description

My community service patterns used to be put up for free (the old ones still are), but folks pointed out that if I charged for the new ones, others would help me carry the load. Money is rolled back into supplies/freight.
